description Ringstead Bay Overview
Ringstead Bay is a coastal inlet located on the Jurassic Coast in Dorset, England, approximately 8 kilometers east of Weymouth. The beach consists of a mixture of sand and shingle, backed by low cliffs and grasslands, with much of the surrounding coastline managed by the National Trust. Offshore, the remains of what is believed to be a medieval settlement can be seen at low tide. The area forms part of the Dorset and East Devon Coast World Heritage Site, recognized for its geological significance and fossil record spanning 185 million years of Earth's history.
