description Rowing Coxed Four Overview
The coxed four is a sweep-rowing boat class crewed by four rowers and a coxswain. Each rower handles one oar, while the coxswain steers the shell, coordinates the crew, and helps manage race tactics and rhythm. Men's coxed four appeared in the Olympic rowing program for much of the twentieth century but is no longer contested at the Games; the class remains part of some other rowing competitions.
