Shoalwater Bay is a large, shallow bay situated on the central coast of Queensland, Australia. It is bounded by the Torilla Peninsula to the west and the Warginburra Peninsula to the east. Since 1965, the bay and its surrounding land have been designated as the Shoalwater Bay Military Training Area, a major combined-arms live-fire exercise zone for the Australian Defence Force. Public access to the region is restricted during military operations, preserving its largely undeveloped coastal wetland ecosystems.
