Tegernsee Abbey is a former Benedictine monastery situated on the shores of Lake Tegernsee in Bavaria, Germany, traditionally founded around 740. It became one of the most important and wealthiest monasteries in Bavaria before its secularization in 1803. The former abbey buildings were subsequently converted into a residence for the Wittelsbach dynasty and today house a brewery, school, and municipal facilities.
