Tom C. Clark was an American lawyer and judge who served as an associate justice of the United States Supreme Court from 1949 to 1967. Appointed by President Harry S. Truman, he wrote the Court's majority opinion in Mapp v.
Ohio in 1961. That decision held that evidence obtained in violation of the Fourth Amendment could not be used in state criminal proceedings through the exclusionary rule.
