Vidar is a deity in Norse mythology, recognized as the god of vengeance and silence, and the son of Odin and the giantess Gríðr. He is frequently described as one of the physically strongest gods in the Aesir pantheon, second only to Thor. According to mythological prophecy, Vidar is destined to survive the events of Ragnarök and avenge his father's death. During this apocalyptic battle, he is fated to slay the monstrous wolf Fenrir by stepping on its lower jaw with a specially crafted, incredibly thick shoe and tearing its mouth apart.
