The Yin Ruins, located in Anyang in China's Henan Province, represent the archaeological remains of Yin, the final capital of the Shang Dynasty. Occupied from approximately 1300 to 1046 BCE, the site provides crucial evidence for the existence and sophistication of early Chinese civilization. It is most famous as the discovery site of oracle bone inscriptions, the earliest confirmed body of ancient Chinese writing, which was carved on animal bones and turtle shells used in divination. Excavations have also uncovered large royal tombs, bronze foundries, and palatial foundations, including the undisturbed tomb of Lady Fu Hao.
