The buff-thighed puffleg, Haplophaedia assimilis, is a hummingbird native to the Andes of Peru and Bolivia. It belongs to a group known as pufflegs because conspicuous feather tufts cover the upper portions of their legs; in this species, those tufts are pale buff. The bird inhabits humid montane forest and forest edges, where it feeds on flower nectar and supplements its diet with small arthropods.
