Rocca Scaligera

description Rocca Scaligera Overview

Rocca Scaligera is a 13th-century lakeside castle situated in the town of Sirmione on the southern shore of Lake Garda in Italy. The fortress was constructed by the Scaligeri family, the ruling lords of Verona, to control the northern reaches of their territory and protect against rival factions. Characterized by its highly intact defensive structures, the castle features a central keep, crenellated walls, three main towers, and a defensive dock area. Surrounded by the waters of the lake, the castle remains a remarkably preserved example of medieval military architecture.
