Nuke Studio

Nuke Studio is a node-based compositing application developed by Foundry, used for visual effects compositing in film and television post-production. It allows artists to combine live-action footage, CGI elements, and complex effects using a non-destructive node workflow that provides precise control over every element. The software is widely used on Hollywood feature films and high-end television productions.

Nuke is used by major visual effects studios including DNEG, Industrial Light & Magic, Weta FX, Framestore, and MPC. The software has been a core tool in VFX pipelines for blockbuster films and prestige television series for over a decade. Its node-based approach is considered an industry standard alongside Autodesk Flame and Adobe After Effects.

Recent versions of Nuke have introduced AI and machine learning-assisted tools for tasks such as rotoscoping, tracking, and cleanup, helping to automate labor-intensive compositing work. Foundry has integrated machine learning nodes that can accelerate processes that traditionally required frame-by-frame manual work. These features complement rather than replace the artist's manual compositing workflow.
