description Bedford Cord Overview

Bedford cord is a durable woven fabric characterized by raised ribs running lengthwise along its surface. The ribbed structure resembles corduroy, although it is produced through a different weave and commonly has less pronounced pile. Traditionally made from cotton or wool, or mixtures containing those fibers, it has been used for riding breeches, work clothing, military uniforms, upholstery, and other applications requiring resistance to wear.
