description Brocade Overview

Brocade is a decorative woven fabric in which supplementary weft threads create raised or contrasting motifs on the surface. Its designs commonly include flowers, foliage, geometric forms, and figurative patterns, sometimes worked with metallic threads. Historically made in major textile centers across Asia and Europe, brocade has been used for ceremonial clothing, formal garments, upholstery, ecclesiastical vestments, and other richly patterned furnishings.
