Isometrus maculatus

description Isometrus maculatus Overview

Isometrus maculatus is a scorpion species in the family Buthidae, first described by DeGeer in 1778. It is often called the house scorpion and is notable for a broad pantropical distribution, much of which is associated with accidental transport by people and maritime trade rather than a single continuous native range. Its venom is generally treated as of limited medical importance, although it remains a venomous animal that should not be handled casually.
