description LMS Patriot Class Overview
The LMS Patriot Class was a group of 4-6-0 express passenger steam locomotives of the London, Midland and Scottish Railway, introduced in 1930. Eighteen were built, all but one rebuilt from earlier Claughton-class engines, and they were used on principal express services across the LMS network, including the Royal Scot workings between London and Glasgow. None were preserved after withdrawal, although a charitable project known as the LMS-Patriot Project is constructing a new member of the class.
