Seitz

The Seitz is a complex release move performed on the women's uneven bars in artistic gymnastics. It involves a straddled backward salto from the high bar before catching the same bar.

The move is named after German gymnast Elisabeth Seitz, an Olympian and European medalist. Gymnastics skills are officially named in the Code of Points after the first athlete to successfully perform them at a major international competition.

The Seitz was officially added to the FIG Code of Points in 2014 after Elisabeth Seitz successfully debuted it in international competition. It is classified as a D-rated element, denoting a high level of difficulty.

The Seitz requires immense upper-body strength and precise timing to generate enough rotation away from the bar. The gymnast must execute a blind change immediately before the release to ensure they catch the bar safely.
