Shang Xia

Shang Xia was created with Chinese designer Jiang Qiong Er and was initially developed in association with Hermès. The brand focuses on Chinese craftsmanship interpreted through contemporary design.

The brand officially launched in 2010 after a preparation period that began in 2008. It introduced a new logo in 2021 and later expanded its presence beyond China.

Shang Xia makes clothing, accessories, furniture, and home objects rather than only runway garments. Examples include cashmere felt coats, bamboo-silk porcelain tea ware, and zitan furniture.

Its identity is built around preserving and updating traditional Chinese techniques, including bamboo work, porcelain, lacquer, and woodcraft. That makes its design language different from European luxury houses that primarily draw on Western atelier traditions.
