description SS Norge Overview
SS Norge was a Danish passenger steamship operated by the Thingvalla Line and used mainly on routes carrying European emigrants to North America. On 28 June 1904, she struck Hasselwood Rock near Rockall in the North Atlantic and sank rapidly, leaving too little lifeboat capacity for those aboard; more than 600 people died. The disaster was among the deadliest peacetime passenger-ship losses before the sinking of Titanic.
