description Tuff Hill (Mauinaina) Overview
Tuff Hill, also known as Mauinaina, was a small volcanic tuff cone near Ōtāhuhu in Auckland, New Zealand. It formed within the Auckland Volcanic Field, a cluster of mostly one-time volcanic centres that includes tuff rings, maars, scoria cones, and lava flows. Much of the cone was removed by quarrying during the 20th century, leaving only a remnant of the original landform. The site is therefore relevant mainly to the geological history of Auckland's urban landscape.
