Udzungwa Massif

description Udzungwa Massif Overview

The Udzungwa Massif is a mountain range in south-central Tanzania that forms part of the Eastern Arc Mountains. Its forests contain a high level of biological diversity and include species with very restricted ranges. The massif is protected in part by Udzungwa Mountains National Park, and it is known as the only natural habitat of the Udzungwa red colobus, a primate endemic to the area. It is important to conservation because forest loss would affect species found nowhere else.
