description Y-Balance Overview

The Y-Balance Test is a functional performance assessment derived from the Star Excursion Balance Test, widely used in sports medicine and physical therapy. The individual balances on one leg while reaching with the opposite lower limb in three specific directions—anterior, posteromedial, and posterolateral—to form a Y shape. This test measures dynamic postural control, lower extremity reach distance, and identifies asymmetries in balance or mobility.
