Bridge (Back Bend)

description Bridge (Back Bend) Overview

Bridge, also called a back bend, is a bodyweight flexibility and strength exercise used in gymnastics, acrobatics, dance, yoga, and general movement training. The performer begins lying on the back, bends the knees, places the feet on the floor, and presses through the hands and feet to lift the torso into an arched position. It develops shoulder, hip, and spinal extension, but technique and progression matter because the position places load on the wrists, shoulders, and back.
