description Overview

Trello, an Atlassian product, is the quintessential simple, visual Kanban board tool that can be adapted for lightweight bug tracking. Its model of boards, lists, and cards is instantly understandable. Each bug is a card that can be moved through lists like 'Backlog', 'In Progress', 'Testing', and 'Done'. Cards can have members, labels, checklists, due dates, and attachments.

For basic tracking, especially for small teams or simple projects, Trello is excellent. Its power comes from Power-Ups (integrations) that can connect to GitHub, GitLab, time tracking, and more, adding significant functionality. However, Trello lacks native fields for complex data like severity, reproducible steps, or environment, requiring workarounds. It is ideal for small startups, freelance developers, or teams managing a low volume of bugs where visual simplicity and ease of collaboration trump detailed reporting and complex workflow states.

For more rigorous software development processes, it quickly hits limitations.
